My current works are focused on reverse images taken from old photographs. Taking old images, printing them out and transferring the image to canvas using a medium and varnish. During the process, I remove the paper and the ghost left behind becomes what remains.

As a painter, my images bleed color and texture into a process that explores rebirth of memory while creating a ghostly, ethereal print of the moment. What becomes within the process of the medium moving the image to another surface, is always a unique version of the original. I have always taken photos of Cleveland landmarks in ruin, in process, in unusual light and always unusual spaces. I love our bridges, rollercoasters and large odd buildings in the Midwest and return to them as a steely muse for inspiration.

A few dead end jobs ago, I was answering the phones at a non profit photography space in a dying downtown building. Post pandemic, hardly anyone would use the facilities. But classes were always strong draw and visiting artists can be wonderful sparks to inspire. I often watched videos on some of the processes I saw the students experiment with visiting artists. I printed out a few old photos from my 2000 Flicker account on canvas and I was hooked. My images are not photoshopped before I transfer them. But more painterly than acrylic or oil.
